This is a short film about a 4 mile circular route at Malham Tarn that is quite challenging for wheelchair users. A tramper is available for hire at the National Trust Office, however, pre-booking is essential and further details can be found on their website.
There are not any disabled toilets at Malham Tarn and the closest ones are at the Yorkshire Dales National Park Visitor’s Centre in Malham Village and is operated with a RADAR Key. The visitor’s centre has 4 disabled parking spaces but blue badge holders are required to Pay & Display.
The surfaces along this route vary from rough gravel tracks, to grassy paths and stretches along tarmac country roads where special care should be taken of other road users. There are several steep inclines to be tackled to complete this route and some beautiful views of Malham Tarn and the surrounding countryside.
For further information about the work the National Trust are doing at the Tarn and the surrounding area, please visit their Malham Tarn Estate web page.
This film was made with support of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s Sustainable Development Fund.
